Custom work and supplied items
Custom production starts with confirmed specifications and an approved proof. This policy explains what approval means and where natural production variation or customer-supplied goods affect the result.
1. Complete specifications are required
Before we mark a job ready, the order needs the product or material, sizes, quantities, artwork, placement, colors, production method, delivery or pickup choice, and requested date. We will flag an obvious conflict, but the customer remains responsible for the accuracy of supplied names, spelling, numbers, sizes, quantities, and instructions.
2. What a proof does
A proof is the approval record for content and general placement. It is not a calibrated sample of every physical variable. Unless the written order says otherwise, proof approval confirms:
- the correct artwork, text, spelling, and numbers;
- the intended product, color, size range, quantity, and placement;
- the approximate scale and relationship of design elements; and
- authorization to begin production using the approved specifications.
If you need a physical sample, measured color target, exact placement tolerance, or other special acceptance standard, it must be written into the quote before approval.
3. Reasonable production variation
Custom production can vary reasonably between pieces and batches. Material texture, garment construction, seams, coatings, grain, supplied blanks, ink or thread lots, monitor settings, and the production process can affect color, finish, scale, and placement. A reasonable process variation is not the same as the wrong artwork, product, quantity, or a manufacturing defect.
Manufacturer size charts describe the blank product, not a guarantee that every item is physically identical. Confirm fit before ordering when fit is critical.
4. Changes after approval
Ask for a change as soon as possible. Every change order must be submitted in writing by email or text message and is not accepted until Blue Moose confirms it in writing. Work already completed, materials already committed, and outside services already ordered may remain chargeable. A change can require a revised quote, proof, or schedule.
5. Customer-supplied garments, products, and materials
Blue Moose accepts customer-supplied garments, products, and materials only from contract clients. A retail client may submit a customer-supplied item only with prior manager approval. Acceptance is always discretionary and subject to our review of the item, material, condition, quantity, process, and replacement risk. Before we take possession, the customer must sign our customer-supplied-item waiver or written order terms. We may refuse an item that is unsafe, unsuitable, irreplaceable, previously treated, contaminated, inconsistent, or outside a process we support.
Every customer-supplied item is provided at the customer’s sole risk. Those risks include:
- hidden defects, wear, stains, coatings, or chemical treatments;
- variation in size, construction, dye, finish, or material composition;
- loss, theft by a third party, misplacement, damage, or destruction during intake, storage, handling, production, packaging, pickup, or shipment;
- damage during a process that normally succeeds on known compatible goods; and
- limited or impossible replacement of a discontinued, sentimental, or one-of-a-kind item.
Subject to the exclusions below, Blue Moose is not responsible for any such loss, theft, damage, destruction, defect, discoloration, shrinkage, reduced value, or inability to return a customer-supplied item to its original condition. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the customer assumes all such risks and releases Blue Moose Designs, LLC, doing business as Blue Moose Designs, and its owners, managers, employees, contractors, and agents from, and waives, all related claims and any right to recover damages, including claims alleging ordinary negligence. This waiver does not apply to Blue Moose’s gross negligence, willful misconduct, or another liability that applicable law does not permit the customer to waive. Blue Moose does not guarantee that an unknown or unsuitable supplied item will react like a tested production blank, and the signed waiver or written quote may add item-specific terms.
6. Customer-supplied artwork
You must confirm the right to use submitted artwork before production. Files are also reviewed for the chosen process, size, and material. A file that opens successfully is not automatically ready for production. The full rights rules are in our artwork and intellectual property policy.
7. Safety-related products and restricted materials
Manufacturer instructions, ratings, certifications, and use limits control for safety apparel and safety-related products. Decoration or repair does not create a new safety certification. We only perform limited repair work on qualifying gear that Blue Moose originally produced or decorated, after inspection and written acceptance.
We do not accept PVC for laser work, medical-device production, hazardous materials, or another material or use that our equipment, safety rules, or law does not support.
8. Cancellations and concerns
A cancellation confirmed before Blue Moose orders product or materials and before custom production begins is eligible for a 100% refund. A cancellation confirmed after Blue Moose orders product or materials but before custom production begins is eligible for a 50% refund of the amount paid for the cancelled work. Once custom production begins, the order is generally not cancellable, subject to applicable law. Review the returns and remedies policy and contact us promptly with the order number and supporting records.
